This was a valve behind the gas detector, the purpose of which was to cut off the gas in the event the detector sensed a gas leak.

Good idea, except the thing was wired into the starter battery, and it required power to keep it on. Which resulted in a dead starter battery, more often than not.

So, finally, after many dead batteries, I had it removed.

The gas detector still functions, and still alarms in the event of a sensed leak. The cut-off valve is shown here and, if you want to deal with the battery issue, you can have it replaced.

I will require the winning bidder to sign a waiver that they understand the cut-off valve has been removed and that they assume responsibility for either re-installing it, or leaving it as is.
